FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Jackson Hole, Wyoming—March 17, 2003—The
International Pedigree Stage Stop Sled Dog Race (IPSSSDR), the largest sled
dog race in the lower 48 states, will be featured in a half-hour program on
the Outdoor Life Network, airing March 25 at 11:00 a.m. and March 26 at 9:00
a.m. MST, announced Race Director Frank Teasley. The program reaches 44
million viewers.
The IPSSSDR, which traveled through 11 Wyoming communities this year from
January 25-February 1, was also featured on FOX and CNN Headline News.
Footage of the race aired on news programs in 25 major cities including
Denver, New York, Washington, Phoenix, San Francisco and Salt Lake City, and
CNN shipped footage of the race to its 675 affiliates.
“This was the closest race since its beginning in 1996,” said Race Director
Frank Teasley. “The yellow bib was never worn by the same musher two days in
a row—which created a great story for the media.”
Credit for the 2003 race’s increased visibility also goes to Pedigree
brand’s promotion of the race through a satellite media tour, public
relations efforts, in-store displays, a daily webcast, a musher support
program and support programs for animal shelters.
Jackson Hole News and Guide, Jackson Hole Radio, KTWO-TV, Jackson Hole Net,
and Wyoming Public Radio were media sponsors of the event. In addition, race
organizers sent daily stories to 100 newspapers, radio stations and
television stations across the country.
Media relations for the event is coordinated exclusively through a joint
effort between Darla Worden Public Relations and Jackson Hole-based Stanwood
& Partners, Wyoming’s largest public relations firm with 22 national
accounts including PowerBar, Shimano, Outdoor Retailer, CamelBak Hydration
Systems, Yakima, SmartWool, The Interbike Show, Atomic Ski USA, the Brunton
Company, Teton County Transportation Choice Campaign, Arc’teryx, Briko, Fly
Fishing Retailer Show, Arnette Optics, the Action Sports Retailer Shows, The
Health & Fitness Expo, Proderma Skin Care, Buck Knives, Ortovox USA, Classic
Sport, Croakies, Superfeet, Bikes Belong and the American Flyfishing
Association.
Jackson Hole-based Bridger Productions produced the Outdoor Life Network
program. Featuring Emmy-award winning producers, directors, cinematographers
and editors, Bridger Productions has produced programs for Fox Sports, ABC,
A&E, National Geographic, ESPN, MTV and The Discovery Channel, in addition
