Shirilla Speeds to a Win in Stage Two of the
International Pedigree Stage Stop Sled Dog Race
Mountain View, Wyoming—January 26, 2004--Melanie Shirilla
from Lincoln, Montana, won Stage Two of the International Pedigree Stage
Stop Sled Dog Race (IPSSSDR) with a time of 3:10:59. Blaine “Buddy”
Streeper from Fort Nelson, British Columbia, was second with 3:12:35;
Sam Perrino from Yellowknife, Northwest Territories, came in third with
3:15:19.
In overall times, Streeper leads with 7:43:50. Wendy Davis from
Chatham, Michigan, holds second place with 7:56:56. Perrino is third
with 8:08:53.
At 9:00 a.m., teams set out on the 45-mile course south of
Evanston. Following Stage Two, teams drove to Alpine for a Musher
Reception at the Community Center.
Stage Three, a 60 mile leg, begins Tuesday, January 27, 9:00
a.m. at the Greys River Road in Alpine.
With its unique “Stage Stop” racing format, the race stops in a
different Wyoming community each night. Following Alpine, the race
continues to Pinedale, then Lander before finishing at Teton Village in
Jackson Hole on Friday, January 30.

During the 2004 IPSSSDR, Pedigree will host a daily web cast on its web
site, www.pedigree.com, that features video footage of the race. To
support local pet adoption efforts, Pedigree makes a donation to animal
shelters nationwide for each visitor to the site during the race.
The International Pedigree Stage Stop Sled Dog Race was
founded in 1996 by Frank Teasley to make sled dog racing more accessible
