Jackson Proclaims Working Dogs Day in Honor of the International Pedigree
Stage Stop Sled Dog Race
Jackson, WY January 6, 2004 - In honor of the International Pedigree
Stage Stop Sled Dog Race, Mayor Mark Barron has proclaimed Friday, January
16, 2004 "Working Dogs Day." The proclamation announces a pre-IPSSSDR
celebration day in honor of those hard-working sled dogs, as well as "to
encourage and promote responsible pet ownership throughout the community."
The first 200 canines to stop by the Jackson Hole News & Guide on January
16, 2004, will receive a complimentary bandana and an opportunity to win 35
lbs of Pedigree Food For Dogs in celebration of the event.
Working Dogs Day is sponsored in conjunction with Jackson-based PAWS, an
organization that promotes responsible pet ownership through spay/neuter and
mutt-mitt programs. PAWS also helps with emergency veterinarian bills. Teton
County PAL, another Jackson-based organization, evaluates and provides Pet
Partners for visiting at the Living Center, C-V, and elsewhere, as well as
its newest program, Reading PALs.
"The Pet Partner/Reading PALs of Teton County PAL are true working dogs,
bringing cheer and comfort, as well as listening ears, to many members of
the community." For further information about either the Pet Partner
program, the Reading PALs program, or PAWS of Jackson Hole, call Judy at

The Pedigree brand is passionate about dogs and committed to providing them
with a lifetime of health and eating enjoyment from foods that are best
suited to a dog’s true nature. This superior dog understanding insures that
the Pedigree brand supports activities and events in which the welfare of
dogs always comes first. The dog-friendly nature of the IPSSSDR is one of
the prime reasons the brand has chosen to support this national competition.
During the 2004 IPSSSDR, Pedigree will host a daily web cast on its web
site, pedigree.com that will feature video footage of the race. To support
local pet adoption efforts, Pedigree will make a donation to animal shelters
nationwide for each visitor to the site during the race.
The International Pedigree Stage Stop Sled Dog Race was founded in 1996 by
Frank Teasley to make sled dog racing more accessible to the public. To read
