Shirilla Wins 2006
International Pedigree Stage Stop Sled Dog Race

Shirilla from
Lincoln,
Montana,
won the 2006 International Pedigree Stage Stop Sled Dog Race (IPSSSDR)
with a time of
23:45:02.
Shirilla previously won the IPSSSDR in 2002, becoming the first
woman to win the race.
Jacques Philip from
Nenana,
Alaska
placed second overall with a time of 24:39:51. Doug
Swingley from
Lincoln,
Montana,
placed third overall with a time of 24:56:38, followed by Wendy Davis
from Lander,
Wyoming
who came in fourth with a time of 24:57:06.
Teams left the
starting line in two-minute
intervals on the 10-mile course
in
Park City,
Utah.
In today’s times, Swingley came in first completing the course in
0:37:30; Sam Perrino from Yellowknife,
NWT, Canada was
second in 0:39:09; Davis
was third in 0:39:23, and Philip was fourth in 0:39:33.
Immediately
following the race, 12 students from communities along the race course
participated on the Jr. Stage Stop sled dog race.
The awards banquet at the Yarrow Hotel in
Park
City
follows the race at
6:00 p.m.
