Wyoming Towns Show IPSSSDR a Dog Gone Good Time; Festivities Planned for Race January 27-February 4, 2006

Jackson, Wyoming—Towns on the 2006 International Pedigree Stage Stop Sled Dog Race (IPSSSDR) route have planned a torchlight parade, pig roasts, bands, fireworks, snowman contests, snow shoe softball and pancake feeds when the race comes to town, January 27-February 4, 2006.

“Many of the mushers come back year after year because of Wyoming’s hospitality,” says Race Director Frank Teasley.  Wyoming people are outstanding hosts.  Each year the stage stop communities work together to show teams a good time.”

With its unique “Stage Stop” racing format, the race stops in a different community each night. The race kicks off in Jackson Hole on January 27, 7:00 p.m. at the Jackson Hole Winter Carnival, departing at night, amidst food booths, bands, and other Winter Carnival activities.  A  torchlight parade and fireworks will welcome  mushers to the finish line at Snow King resort.

Race festivities continue through the week in Lander, Pinedale, Alpine, Kemmerer/Diamondville, Evanston, Lyman/Mountain View, and then finish in Park City, Utah for the final stage and award ceremony.

Currently 18 teams are registered for the 2006 IPSSSDR, including returning mushers like Jacques Philip, Melanie Shirilla, Grant Beck and Dan Carter, as well as newcomers Boyd Wilson and Stacey O’Neal.

Pedigree®  Food for Dogs is the title sponsor of the IPSSSDR.  The Pedigree brand is passionate about dogs and committed to providing them with a lifetime of health and eating enjoyment from foods that are best suited to a dog’s true nature.   This superior dog understanding insures that the Pedigree brand supports activities and events in which the welfare of dogs always comes first.  The dog-friendly nature of the IPSSSDR is one of the prime reasons the brand has chosen to support this national competition.  To support local pet adoption efforts, Pedigree will make a donation of pet food to animal shelters on the race route.

The International Pedigree Stage Stop Sled Dog Race was founded in 1996 by Frank Teasley to make sled dog racing more accessible to the public and to promote the need for childhood immunizations.
