Jackson, Wyoming – NASCAR driver David Gilliland will trade horsepower for dog power January 26,
when he drives an honorary team from the Jackson starting line at the opening of the 2007
International Pedigree® Stage Stop Sled Dog Race (IPSSSDR), announced Race Director Frank Teasley.
Gilliland usually drives the #38 Ford sponsored by Mars, Incorporated brand M&M’S® Chocolate Candies in NASCAR’s NEXTEL Cup Series.
“This will be a very different type of race than anything I have ever been involved in,” said Gilliland.
“I am used to racing with four tires instead of four legs; and being from Southern California,
I don’t have a lot of experience around snow. The one thing that I do have in common with the IPSSSDR
mushers is that we are all competitors, and I am excited to see all of the racers in action.”
The Jackson start of the IPSSSDR takes place January 26, 2007 at 7:00 p.m. on the Town Square. As part
of the lineup of festivities during Jackson Hole’s Winter Carnival, the race ends at Snow King Resort
and is followed by a torchlight parade and fireworks. Directly following the race at Snow King Center,
Pedigree® hosts a party that is free and open to the public, with Gilliland in attendance.
“It’s great to be involved with Mars, Incorporated and great brands like Pedigree and M&M’S,” continued
Gilliland. “I couldn’t have hand-picked a better sponsor than one of these iconic brands, and I am proud
to represent them as we kick off this great event in Wyoming.”
Pedigree® Food for Dogs is the title sponsor of the IPSSSDR. The Pedigree® brand actively supports a wide
range of programs that promote responsible pet ownership and highlight the contributions dogs make to society.
