Davis Dominates Lander Stage in IPSSSDR; Hometown Musher Posts Fastest Time
Jackson, Wyoming—February 1, 2009—Wendy Davis of Lander, Wyo., led Day Two of the International Pedigree Stage Stop Sled
Dog Race (IPSSSDR) with the fastest time of 2:58:04. Davis averaged 14.5 miles per hour on the 43-mile loop from South Pass.
Melanie Shirilla from Lincoln, Mont., was a close second with a time of 2:58:38; in third, Bruce Magnusson from Manchester,
Mich., posted a time of 3:02:07.
On Monday, February 2, teams will race a 35-mile stage from Cora to Pinedale at 9 a.m. for Day Three of the race. Additional
upcoming stages include Big Piney/Marbleton, Alpine, Kemmerer/Diamondville, Evanston, Lyman/Mountain View, and finally Park
City, Utah, for the final stage and awards ceremony on Saturday, February 7.
With its unique dog-friendly "stage stop" racing format, the IPSSSDR stops in a different community each night,
allowing the host towns to show their hospitality. Festivities for mushers and spectators alike include pancake feeds,
dog parades, banquets, carnivals, and snowshoe softball.
