Shirilla Posts Fastest Time on Day Seven of the International Pedigree Stage Stop Sled Dog Race, Maintains
Overall Lead
February 6, 2009—Park City, Utah—Melanie Shirilla from Lincoln, Mont., posted the fastest time on Day Seven of the International
Pedigree Stage Stop Sled Dog Race (IPSSSDR) with a time of 3:05:49. Krista Halsnes from Steamboat Springs, Colo., came in second
with a time of 3:08:21; Ken Josefsen was third with a time of 3:12:24.
In overall times, Shirilla leads with a time of 22:35:32. Wendy Davis from Lander, Wyo., is second with a time of 23:42:27, and
Sam Perrino from Yellowknife, Northwest Territories, in Canada is in third with 23:53:25.
The race concludes tomorrow, Saturday, February 7, at Quinn’s Junction in Park City, Utah. Scheduled events for February 7 include
"Meet the Mushers" at 10 a.m., followed by the final stage of the IPSSSDR at noon. Immediately after the IPSSSDR, Junior Mushers
will participate in their own race at 2 p.m.
With its unique dog-friendly
"stage stop" racing format, the IPSSSDR stops in a different community each
night, allowing the host towns to show their hospitality. Festivities for
mushers and spectators alike include pancake feeds, dog parades, banquets,
carnivals, and snowshoe softball.

The International Pedigree
