International Pedigree Stage Stop Sled Dog Race Mushes into Park City
February 6 final stage wraps up largest sled dog race in the lower 48
Jackson, Wyoming – January 29, 2010 – The International Pedigree Stage Stop Sled Dog Race (IPSSSDR) will arrive in Park City, Utah, on February 6 for the final stage of the 2010 race, which begins in Jackson Hole on January 29 and proceeds through 10 Wyoming communities. The race’s full roster of teams includes many return racers, as well as such newcomers as Chris Adkins from Montana, a 2010 rookie. Buddy Streeper returns to the IPSSSDR to vie for victory; he won first place in his first IPSSSDR in 2004.
"It's always exciting to arrive in Park City for the race finish," says Race Director Frank Teasley. "The teams enjoy finishing the race in Park City with its enthusiastic spectators." The Park City final stage, which starts at Quinn’s Junction Sports Complex at noon on February 6, will be preceded by a “meet the mushers” gathering from 10 a.m. – noon and followed by a Junior Musher competition at 2 p.m. The 2010 IPSSSDR winners will be announced and prizes awarded at a private awards banquet that evening at the Yarrow Hotel.
With its unique "stage stop" format, the race stops in a different town each night, giving the participating Wyoming communities an opportunity to turn on the hospitality for mushers and spectators alike with events from dog parades, kids’ dog sled races and ice sculpture contests to banquets, carnivals and pie socials.
