Upper Green Change Up – Stage 6

It was a perfect mushing day… 7 to 28 degrees with a light breeze of 10-15 mph with a light dusting of snow. All the mushers stayed in the same overall positions. Bruce, JR, and Chris all packed a dog with only Bruce not losing any time in the overall but his days time was definitely lengthened.

There is a really tight race going on between Dennis and Austin for 7th place overall with only 23 seconds between them.

Jeff Conn made up a lot of time on his closest competition today setting a solid 5th overall while Dave had an exciting crash and drag at the start. I missed it with the video camera because I was only videoing every other musher.

Much can happen with 2 more days of racing to go.

The Driggs, Idaho stage tomorrow is up, up again then down, up and down again. It is another shorter stage of approximately 30 miles. Some pretty good switchbacks and tight turns with 1/2 mile of cliff-hanging narrow trail on the back side. On and off a road in places, then through the sage flats for the turnaround. There are plenty of opportunities to meet a team in tight spots and or unseen corners. It’s a blast but a nail biter at the same time.

Can Bruce catch Lina? Only 15 minutes behind her and Dave 7 minutes behind Bruce. Can Dennis and Austin knock off JR? That is the squeeze play for tomorrow. Jeff and Greta cannot play it safe just yet!
