With a friendly population nearing 12,000, Evanston is located on Interstate 80 in the far southwest corner of Wyoming less than one hour from Park City and a little over one hour from Salt Lake City, Utah.
Fort Bridger State Historic Site and Flaming Gorge National Recreation Area are located east of Evanston off Interstate 80. Highway 89, north of Evanston, provides a scenic route to Bear Lake, Jackson Hole and Grand Teton and Yellowstone National Parks.
Highway 150, south of Evanston, starts your 80 mile adventure along the Mirror Lake Scenic Byway. This highway is one of America’s most picturesque scenic byways. The byway accesses the Wasatch-Cache National Forest and ends in Kamas, Utah.
Evanston enjoys an unparalleled quality of life. Nestled in the Bear River Valley, the city is framed to the south by the majestic High Uinta Mountains. The Bear River flows through the community, meandering past Bear River State Park where elk and buffalo roam, and a community parkway where deer and people play. The river is the source of the cleanest, best drinking water in the region.
Winter recreation offers world-class cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, snowmobiling, ice fishing and skating. Warm weather opportunities exist for camping, hiking, backpacking, fishing, hunting, rodeos, horseracing, boating, windsurfing, bicycling, golfing, tennis, softball, baseball and soccer. Summertime in Evanston is filled with long sunny days, brilliant blue skies, low humidity and cooling winds. The area is a mecca for family vacations.
Quality businesses cater to the needs of visitors. There is a wide variety of lodging with over 1,000 guest rooms. Experience personalized shopping in a quaint, friendly atmosphere. Choose from over 30 local eateries. Enjoy an assortment of night clubs and pubs in a relaxed social environment.
Rich in history and embracing a vibrant future, Evanston presents a unique quality of life. Offering a world of business and recreational opportunities, family values and a safe environment, the city has maintained its small town feel, heritage and sense of community.
