Alpine, Wyoming, a small town near the Idaho border, is located on the Snake River and banks of the Palisades Reservoir. Nestled in a picture perfect setting, surrounded by majestic mountains and pristine rivers this is truly God’s Country. The famous “Grand Canyon” of the Snake River connects Alpine to the infamous Jackson Hole, making Alpine a gateway to Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks.
The Grey’s River area offers over 471,000 acres of virgin national forest for all types of recreation ranging from kayaking and white water rafting to camping, fishing, hunting, and countless miles of trails for hiking or horseback riding. With our annual snowfall of 500”, winter sports abound as well; snowshoeing, ice fishing, and cross-country skiing are just a fraction of what is available to the winter visitor here.
For the critter lover, a large wetland and waterfowl viewing area is only a few minutes’ drive south from Alpine. You will see geese, ducks, pelicans, osprey, eagles, sand hill cranes and blue heron. The Alpine Feed ground is a great place to watch the elk feed and play. Alpine has one of the two Rocky Mountain goat herds in the state. No matter what time of year, there are plenty of “critters” to see in or around Alpine.
